Trans singer turned comedian Jordan Gray has revealed that she stripped off and did a comedy set naked at the Edinburgh Fringe.
“It sort of levels the playing field a little bit when you’ve got all three of your protrusions on show.”
The former contestant on The Voice tv singing competition was taking part in her first Edinburgh Fringe this August when the urge took her. She told the audience of her Sunday evening radio show on Phoenix FM that it happened in the early hours.
“I got my kit off”
It was during the Late and Live show between one and three in the morning, a gig that Jordan says is a “baptism of fire for new comedians”, playing to a “load of drunk people in a big massive room”.
Jordan is clearly feeling comfortable in her new role as a stand-up comedian. At Sparkle in Manchester this July she performed with no shoes for comfort, but this time she went much further.
“It was great,” she told her radio audience, “so comfortable did I feel on that stage that I got my kit off and did comedy in the buff, in the nude, in the not clothed, and it went down a treat.”.

Sometimes small is best
It wasn’t all big shows and full audiences for Jordan at the festival though. She says one night she played to three people, but it turned out to be one of her favourite gigs.
“Sometimes the quietest rooms were the best.”
The show was quiet because she didn’t promote it. Acts at the Fringe hand out flyers to encourage people to visit their shows, but she describes how there were so many they lay on the streets like autumn leaves. They made a slippery film, causing people to slip over.
