A 30 year old trans woman has been murdered in Philadelphia, the third trans woman to be shot dead in America in a week.
Shantee Tucker was shot in the back at about one in the morning on Wednesday. She is at least the 19th trans woman to be murdered in the United States in 2018.
This year is looking dangerously like becoming the worst year in American history for deadly violence against trans people. Last year was the worst on record so far, with 25 murders.
She was running away
Officers say they don’t know of a motive for Shantee’s murder, but at the moment they don’t believe she was targeted because of her gender.
They think there had been an argument and that Shantee knew the person who shot her dead.
“There were eight 9mm [casings] recovered at the scene,” Capt. John Ryan was reported says. “We believe she was running away.

They police are searching for the driver of an old pickup truck, which is apparently well known in the area.
Two trans women were killed elsewhere in America six days ago.
Vontashia Bell was shot dead in Louisiana, and Dejanay Stanton was murdered with a single gunshot to the head in Chicago.
